Class Description

Come learn about Swedish holiday traditions! A perspective on the history of Christmas celebration from the pagan times through the coming of Christianity and to modern, secular Swedish society. This course is for those who want to know the reason behind many beloved Christmas customs: straw goats, red ribbons, lutfisk, rice pudding, advent candles and all the rest! No Textbook required. The instructor will provide handouts.
