If you live in WA, where we are based, we need it to determine how much tax to pay the state of WA. Due to the new law (as of Oct 1, 2025), we are now required to pay sales tax on courses. The amount owed is based on the flat state rate of 6.5% plus the local rate (where you live). We can not do this with just the city name, or even just your building address. If you live in an apartment, you may in rare cases, pay a different rate than your neighbor across the hall. So we need the whole address. We never share or sell your personal information, including your address, without your written permission. We are in the business of teaching language and culture classes, not messing around with people's addresses. We do what the law requires, but we do nothing else with your info. If you live outside of WA state, you may owe use tax to your state for the classes you buy, but we do not pay Washington sales tax (or your state's use tax) on your purchase. Therefore, we do not (as yet) need your physical address. Who knows what lawmakers will say next year...
